Viator review: what it is and who runs your tour

Viator suits a traveler who wants guided tours, day trips and attraction tickets from local operators in one place. Its Terms of Use say Viator is part of the Tripadvisor Group of Companies and is not a travel or tour agency, nor a supplier of the experiences. The operator runs the day, and your contract is with the operator.

Each listing's "Supplied by" line names that operator. The Louvre Museum Masterpieces Guided Tour with Access, supplied by City Wonders Ltd, started from $71.74 per person as read on October 13, 2026. Viator says listings must meet its Quality Standards, but also that it does not endorse or recommend any listing and gives no guarantee or warranty about an experience or an operator.

What Viator tours cost, read on October 13, 2026

Viator sells no plans or subscription. Each listing shows a "from" price, per person unless the listing says otherwise, which is the price before you pick a date, an option or a party size, so your own date can show a higher figure. Before you pay, check what the listing says about local taxes and fees, and see Viator prices for where Viator's own pages differ on them.

The Grand Canyon West figure is the option without lunch, helicopter or Skywalk ticket. Gratuities are excluded on all five listings.

Cancellation, Reserve Now and Pay Later and the price guarantee

Free Cancellation is a Viator cancellation type: a full refund when you cancel at least 24 hours before the start, local time, and no refund inside those 24 hours. Viator's home page says this covers most experiences, not all, and each listing shows its own policy. The Alcatraz Inside Access Ferry and Audio Tour with Night Option, from $90.99 per person, says "Non-refundable" on its page. Viator cancellation policy covers the exceptions.

Reserve Now and Pay Later means booking with no upfront payment, with full payment due before the travel date. Four of the five listings above show it; the Tower of London ticket does not.

Viator's Terms of Use say full payment by card is required to book unless the listing says otherwise, and listings with Reserve Now and Pay Later take only a valid card at booking, so check which your listing uses.

All seven listing pages read for this site carry a Lowest Price Guarantee badge. Viator's help center says it covers a lower price for the same tour or activity from the same provider, in the same currency, with one refund request per booking for price fluctuations and no stated claim window.

Viator reviews and ratings: how to read them

Viator reviews come only from people who booked through Viator, but the rating shown on Viator also counts Tripadvisor reviews, which do not need a Viator booking. Viator says it removes reviews written in exchange for gifts, services or money. This page quotes no rating, review count or complaint; each listing page shows its own.

Viator's default sort, which may be labeled Featured, weighs payments operators make to Viator among other factors, and promoted listings carry a notice. Travelers can sort by price or filter to the 24-hour full-refund policy.

Is Viator worth it, and when to book elsewhere

Is Viator worth it? It is when the day needs an operator: a guide, hotel pickup, a coach to a distant site or a ticket with a refund window. The Pearl Harbor tour from Waikiki, from $55.00 per person, includes hotel pickup and drop-off.

A couple with one free day in Rome shows the choice. Viator's guided Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica tour, supplied by City Wonders Ltd, started from $78.57 per person with a full refund up to 24 hours before the start, and the listing says St Peter's Basilica is not possible on Wednesday mornings.

The Museums' own entry ticket is valid only on the day it is issued, is not refundable and is priced in another currency, so no dollar comparison is printed here. Pick the guide to have the Sistine Chapel explained; pick the direct ticket when the date is certain and you want to walk the galleries alone.

Viator Rewards, its loyalty program, are earned only on bookings made directly on viator.com or its app, not through a partner, travel agent or affiliate site or link, so a booking started from a button on this site does not earn them.

Book direct when the attraction's own ticket is enough. The Grand Canyon West day trip in the table stops at Hoover Dam, whose own Dam Tour, $40 per person, the Bureau of Reclamation sells only on site, in person, first come first served.
