Viator vs Klook: the short answer

Viator and Klook both sell activities that independent operators run, and the difference you meet first is cancellation: most Viator listings refund in full when you cancel at least 24 hours before the start, while Klook sets one of three cancellation types on each activity.

A chopsticks-making workshop in Gion started from $6.45 per person on its listing page, with engraving as an additional charge.

Cancellation and changes on Viator and Klook

On Viator, Free Cancellation means a full refund when you cancel at least 24 hours before the start, local time, and no refund inside the 24 hours. A non-refundable listing cannot be changed or canceled for any reason, and a custom policy is written on the listing page, so the Cancellation Policy line of the exact listing decides.

A Viator change request carries no Viator fee if it arrives by the listing's deadline, but the operator may charge one and the change is not guaranteed.

Klook's help pages, read on October 13, 2026, put the type on each activity. Free cancellation lets you cancel yourself inside the stated period. A conditional activity can charge a cancellation handling fee, refund only for weather, or cover only part of the booking. A no-cancellation activity gets no refund, so read the type before you pay. Viator says most experiences confirm at once and otherwise within 48 hours; Klook says instant-confirmation activities email within 5 minutes and the rest take 24 to 48 hours.
