Viator vs GetYourGuide: the same tickets, prices and terms side by side

Viator vs GetYourGuide: the short answer

Viator and GetYourGuide are close on the one identical ticket read on both, so which is better comes down to terms: the Tower of London and Crown Jewels ticket was from $51.14 per person on Viator and from $50 per person on GetYourGuide on October 13, 2026, and Historic Royal Palaces runs it on both. Start with pay later, which GetYourGuide's Tower ticket showed and Viator's did not.

Pick Viator when you want to filter a destination to listings with the 24-hour full-refund policy, or when a cruise day needs a listing tagged Worry-free Shore Excursion, which Viator's Terms cover with conditions. Pick GetYourGuide when pay later on that Tower ticket or Best Price Matching matters more.

Both are marketplaces. Viator's Terms say your contract is with the operator, and GetYourGuide's terms say you buy directly from the operator, with GetYourGuide acting as its agent. Viator calls its pay-later option Reserve Now and Pay Later: a reservation with a card on file and no upfront payment.

The same ticket on both sites

The Tower of London and Crown Jewels Exhibition Day Ticket is supplied by Historic Royal Palaces on Viator and has the same activity provider on GetYourGuide. Both figures are from-prices before a date was picked, and no checkout total was read, so the gap is between from-prices only.

The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island guided tours are different products: ExperienceFirst runs Viator's, from $59.00 per person, and Walks - US runs GetYourGuide's, from $59 per person.

Cancellation and pay later on Viator and GetYourGuide

Both default to a 24-hour rule. On most Viator listings you get a full refund when you cancel at least 24 hours before the start, and each listing shows its own cancellation policy. GetYourGuide's terms give one when you cancel more than 24 hours before, and nothing inside 24 hours or on a no-show unless the listing says otherwise.

Pay later differs in detail. On Viator, the payment date is on your booking. GetYourGuide's terms say that on selected activities the card is checked with a zero charge at booking and debited 72 hours before the start; if that charge fails, you have 47 hours to pay by hand before the booking is canceled.

Price guarantee, ranking and support

Viator's Lowest Price Guarantee covers a lower price for the same tour or activity from the same provider in the same currency. GetYourGuide's Best Price Matching pays the price difference when the same activity is cheaper elsewhere, with exclusions for loyalty-program offers, corporate rates and group rates. GetYourGuide's terms also admit its price can be higher than operators charge on other platforms.

Both rank listings partly on revenue: Viator's default sort weighs payments operators make to Viator, and GetYourGuide's terms count the revenue an activity generates, including what operators pay. Both say they offer 24/7 support.

Pick GetYourGuide for price matching on the same activity, or when pay later on a ticket like the Tower's matters. Pick Viator to filter a destination to listings with the 24-hour full-refund policy, or for a cruise day with a listing tagged Worry-free Shore Excursion, which its Terms cover with conditions. Other options are on Viator alternatives and GetYourGuide alternatives; fees are on Viator prices.
